Kate Coscarelli, mother of PHANTASM creator Don Coscarelli and first time author, writes a novelization of the film. The book includes backstory to the characters never shown in the films.

Kate Coscarelli’s novelization is translated into Japanese and released in Japan. It goes out of print soon after.

A bootleg novelization by an unknown Russian author is released. It includes a rare novelized sequel to PHANTASM.
1985
Inspired by the success of the Phantasm novelization, Kate Coscarelli writes her first novel and becomes a NY Times best-selling author.
1990
A limited edition magazine by Phantasm fan Nazir Ali is released internationally.
1998
Fan “Zine” The Sentinel, created by Richard Elkin, launches and is sent out to subscribers monthly for over 3 years. In addition to news and interviews it featured “Phan Fiction” including an innovative Phantasm-themed story by soon-to-be successful author Brian Keene.
2002
Issue #1 of The PHANTASM comic book is released in a limited run. The brainchild of noted Texas author Stephen Romano.
2002
Silver Sphere press produces a brand new edition of the PHANTASM novelization. It is the first time this edition is available to English speaking audiences. The limited run sells out instantly. It has become one of the rarest collectables in the Phantasm-verse.
2016
Rue Morgue Magazine releases its “Authorized Phantasm Film Companion” written by respected author John W. Bowen. The book includes interviews with the entire Phantasm cast and creative team and is the first authorized book to be released about the films. Buy it here.

The Phantasm Collection DVD set is released and includes a special book with exclusive photos and interviews.
2018
Phantasm creator Don Coscarelli’s official memoir “True Indie” is released by St. Martin’s Press. The book features in-depth chapters on the original Phantasm and it’s subsequent sequels. Purchase an autographed copy at the official PHANTASM store.
2020
Journalist and author Ben Wan releases the “Phantasm Compendium” an authorized behind-the-scenes book about the Phantasm franchise. The book includes never before released interviews with cast and crew from PHANTASM. Buy it here.

PHANTASM creator Don Coscarelli announces new book PHICTION: Tales from the World of Phantasm. For the first time in the history of horror cinema, a celebrated filmmaker of a cult-classic horror film series has continued the adventure by swapping mediums and personally authoring a series of fictional works exploring in detail the characters he originally created. Coscarelli has now returned to the world of Phantasm to tell more tales of these inspiring phantasmic heroes. The book is illustrated and designed by artist Aaron Lea and published by Molotov Press.
