Each month we showcase a Phan cover of a PHANTASM-related musical piece.

This week is Ben Eller’s acoustic guitar cover (+lesson!) of the main theme. Here are some notes about it:

In this episode, you're going to learn my arrangement of the classic Phantasm theme music! It's a ball. Good timing, too, with Phantasm Ravager about to come out. That trailer looked sick. Uncle Ben here has arranged this for fingerstlye acoustic guitar, but it would sound cool on electric too. Capo fret 7 will get you in the right key!

This is a really good study to help improve your finger independence, and help broaden your sense of harmony; that high theme repeats over and over, and the bass notes beneath it change. Pay close attention to the way those melody notes sound different depending on what bass note they're being played against! Thats the magic of harmony; what a melody means to one chord may be something completely different to another.
