As we have chronicled many times in the past PHANTASM has a long and storied history in the music world. From hip-hop samples (from Doug E. Fresh to Master P) and celebrity music super phans (Kirk Hammett and Rob Zombie) to decades of fun vinyl sound track releases it has been quite the phantastic musical journey!

However, anytime the musical theme gets brought up one artist more than ever is mention by phans.. Sweedish death-metal band ENTOMBED.

Originating from Stockholm, Sweden, Entombed emerged in the late 1980s as one of the pioneers of Scandinavian death metal. Initially formed as Nihilist in 1987, the band rebranded as Entombed in 1989. Known for their distinctive sound blending heavy metal with punk rock elements, they released their seminal album "Left Hand Path" in 1990, which is often regarded as a defining record of the Swedish death metal scene. Over the years, while their sound evolved, encompassing more rock and roll elements, they maintained their reputation as one of the most influential and enduring bands in the heavy metal community.

The PHANTASM influence appears on their debut album LEFT HAND PATH:

Left Hand Path" is Entombed's groundbreaking debut album, released in 1990, and stands as a seminal work in the Swedish death metal genre. Renowned for introducing the "buzzsaw" guitar tone—a hallmark of the Swedish sound—the album seamlessly combined brutal riffs with a raw, punkish energy.

It is the opening track that got PHANTASM phans ears to perk up… the title track to album LEFT HAND PATH!

Characterized by its haunting intro sampled from the horror film "Phantasm" and its crushing riffs, "Left Hand Path" is not just a song but an anthem that set the bar for the burgeoning death metal scene in Sweden.
