Phantasm A Sacred Cow?
By John Klyza - December 2nd, 2010
Phantasm makes CHUD.COM’s list of Sacred Cows: The 25 Movies They’d Better Never Remake.
“Phantasm is one of those great low-budget wonders of 70’s horror that manages with its limited means to be visceral, fascinating and very effective. Told from the young boy’s perspective, it’s very much about coming face to face with mortality, and personifying what death means, but even if the fear is not literal, it’s effective in getting across the horror and fear of death from that viewpoint.”

I jumped over and read the full article and left my comments there, but just to recap: As i have stated numerous times on here and phantasm community.com , a remake of these philms are out of the question! Any idiot can see the magic is in the original actors and director/writer! To remake these with a hollywoodized version would be revenue suicide! A toast to Coscarelli and Phamily for no remakes and no studio-ran sequel!!

Remakes happen. Always have & always will. The fact is not every generation coming into this world is keen on watching the movies their parents and grandparents loved. Can’t fault them for that. I know I didn’t. Unless the story of “Phantasm” is kept alive & fresh for a new crop of movie lovers thru a remake, the memory of it will fade and that would be a shame. I’m all for a remake and would hope to live to see a remake after that. Remakes = immortality.

@Craig:
Freaks never got a remake and we’re still talking about that today. Nobody knows that The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari got remade, but we’re still talking about it today.
Just being on film = immortality.

Any fool can see the miracle is in the unique stars and director/writer! To rebuilding these with a hollywoodized edition would be income destruction Always have & always will. The truth is not every creation arriving into this world is interested in viewing the films their mother and father and grandma and grandpa loved

you are so right mighty students a remake for Phantasm would be sure devastation for the film the movie is so unique there could never be another movie like it ever and the actors/actresses are remarkable The way the movie was directed and written is awesome and no other style would be a compliment, only the or people could get this ball rolling.
